Robin has lived in Durham for five years.  She has a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Library and Information Science.  She is a retired Public Library Director, and is looking to a serve another term as a Trustee for the Durham Public Library.

Below Robin describes her experience and why she would like to continue as a Durham Public Library Trustee.

I served as an alternate library trustee in 2019 and am completing the last year of my 3-year term as a trustee of the Durham Public Library. I am currently serving as Chair of the Board. In addition, I have served on the Strategic Plan Steering Committee and the Personnel and Policy sub-committee. Prior to moving to Durham, I served on the Norfolk (MA) Friends of the Library Executive Committee and also served as vice-chair of my Condo Association Board of Managers.

I have been a life-long library user and advocate and in fact, have spent my career working in school and public libraries. Public libraries are a vital part of every community and bring people together through books and reading, story times, book discussion groups, and a variety of educational programs activities. Libraries are so much more than a repository of books and they remain relevant in today’s world of Google and other digital information.  The Durham Public Library is a vibrant part of our community and serves all residents —- from our youngest to oldest citizens —- by providing an array of programs and services that enhance the fabric of our community life. I feel that I can contribute to the Town of Durham by continuing to serve on the Library Board of Trustees and by working to ensure that outstanding library services are available to all our residents.
