Trails in Durham

Oyster River Forest trail

Durham is fortunate to have a network of trails on town-owned lands, as well as on other conserved lands. The Town relies on volunteers and trail users to help ensure that trails are well-maintained and sustainable long-term. The following information and links provides guidance on trails, trail maps, volunteering for trails, and related information:

WALK, RUN, BIKE TO DISCOVER DURHAM’S TRAILS, MAINTAIN SAFE DISTANCING, AND REDUCE CONGESTION AT TRAILHEAD PARKING AREAS

The Town of Durham’s open spaces offer places for maintaining mental and physical health for individuals and families, during these stressful times. The trails are open for exploration—due to the COVID-19 threat, visitors must maintain appropriate social distancing, which generally means keeping 6 feet apart. This is especially important on weekends, when visitation is high. If sites are congested, please seek alternate locations. It is mud season, please treat trails gently.
