Hazard Mitigation Draft Plan 2022

Durham's Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan Update 2022 is an update to the Town's 2017 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan and follows FEMA's Local Mitigation Planning Policy Guide, which was released on April 19, 2022. This plan aims to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of death and property damage from the hazards identified in the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) before, during, and after an incident or disaster. This plan has been developed by Durham's Hazard Mitigation Steering Committee (HMSC) in collaboration with the Strafford Regional Planning Commission (SRPC), with input from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) Planning Section of the New Hampshire Department of Safety and other state and federal agencies as well as the public at large. Along with meeting the FEMA guidelines, the Hazard Mitigation Plan for 2022 must also comply with the Global Covenant of Mayors (GCOM), the largest global alliance for city climate leadership. Community feedback is a huge part of meeting GCOM requirements, so we would greatly appreciate your feedback on the plan before it is finalized. The draft plan is attached below.
