Fire Safety and Prevention
2020 Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen Campaign
This year’s FPW campaign, “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!” works to educate everyone about the simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves, and those around them, safe in the kitchen. See the NFPA's tip filled informationals in the thumbnails below.
Close Before You Doze
For 2019’s Close Before You Doze campaign, we have created a powerful new video featuring actual 911 dispatch and helmet camera footage of the rescue of a young girl in a house fire. This real-life rescue showcasing the great work of the firefighters from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department provides a tangible example of why you should Close Before You Doze. The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department made a video demonstrating the importance of the Close Before You Doze Campaign. Click HERE to view the video.
Smoke Alarm Friendship Stories
Last week, we also kicked off a public safety campaign that will educate the public and provide first responders with new resources to share the importance of having working smoke alarms in homes and the new technology that is making smoke alarms even better! Click HERE to view a video about the importance of smoke alarms in your home.
Annual Fire and Life Safety Calendar Contest
The 2020-2021 edition has been suspended due to Covid-19.
Attention 3rd Grade Students - Every year the NH State Fire Marshal's Office and the NH Fire Prevention Society hold an "Annual Fire & Life Safety Calendar Contest". The contest is open to ALL 3rd grade students in public, private and home school settings. We encourage students to research the monthly topics (see attached PDF), pick one that is most interesting, and design the most clear, colorful poster with an important safety message.
