VII. 23 Main Street - Signage. Application for three signs on the front of 23 Main Street for a State Farm Insurance office (1 hanging sign and 2 door signs). Torrington Properties, c/o Eric Barnes, property owner. Kyle Woodruff, State Farm Insurance, applicant. Map 5, Lot 1-6. HDC
VIII. 15 Newmarket Road – Food Truck Court. Preliminary application (for discussion only) to create a food truck court at 15 Newmarket Road, the old Durham Town Offices. The development would be created behind the building including food trucks, shed pavilions, a landscaped community gathering space, reuse of the salt shed and old ORYA building, and other site changes. IX. 37 Mill Road. Discussion about McDaniel Tomb located at the rear of lot being developed as parsonage for Durham Evangelical Church. HC
X. Lafayette Plaque. Proposal to install a plaque recognizing General Lafayette’s visit to Durham during his 1825 Farewell Tour. The plaque would be installed somewhere along Main Street in the Historic District. The cost would be covered by the Pomeroy Foundation, c/o Julien Icher, President of The Lafayette Trial, Inc. HC
XI. Land Acknowledgement Statement. Discussion of the statement recommended by the Durham Human Rights Commission. HC

This meeting of the Historic District/Heritage Commission will be conducted in Council Chambers. A quorum must be physically present in order to hold the meeting. Individual commission members may participate via zoom provided special procedures are followed.

PUBLIC INPUT INSTRUCTIONS: Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, the Town of Durham will be taking extra steps to allow for public input during public meetings while still ensuring participant safety and social distancing. Per Executive Order by Governor Sununu, scheduled gatherings of 10 or more people will be prohibited. Therefore, those wishing to share comments are required to do so via email by 5:00 PM on the day of the meeting.

Public Comments. The public is welcome to speak about any specific agenda item when that item comes up on the agenda and about any other appropriate subject during Public Comments time.
HDC/HC. HDC stands for Historic District Commission. HC stands for Heritage Commission. The commission is one body with two roles. The HDC reviews applications in the Historic District. The Heritage Commission’s broader role is to promote historic preservation throughout Durham.
