Dear Members of the Durham Community,
Due to a major snowstorm forecast for the region, residential trash and recycling collection provided by the Town of Durham will be delayed one day all week beginning with the Monday 1/26/26, collection route being collected on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, and so on.
Durham Public Works is requesting residents place their barrels and containers out late Monday evening or Tuesday morning before 7:00 AM for Tuesday collection, so as not to interfere with snow operations. Commercial Recycling collection on Friday 1/30/26 will be canceled and collected on Friday 2/6/26. We thank you for your understanding.
The Town Hall and Durham Public Library will be closed on Monday.

For NH Electric Cooperative customers, to report a power outage Click HERE.
The State of NH reports that NHDOT can keep up with about 1" of snow per hour. Periods of this storm will deliver 2-3" per hour. Take Away: Recommended residents stay off roadways if they do not have to be out and about.
Durham and UNH are communicating in advance of the forecasted severe cold/heavy snow for potential power outages Suneqy into Monday. We're working to identify a possible on-campus location that could serve as a warming station for Durham residents only if needed. Should this become necessary, we will share additional information through this list server.
Additional fire personnel will be on duty throughout the storm period. Please note that the Department of Public Works continues to operate with several vacancies due to injuries and unfilled positions, and staff are doing their best to manage these winter events safely and effectively with part-time temporary staff and through contracted services.
With cleanup, our public works crews will be working upwards of 36 hours until close to midnight Monday.
If you need assistance, don't hesitate to contact the Durham Police Department at 603-868-2324 or dial 911 for emergency.
Please pass this information along if you know of others who would benefit from receiving it.
Stay safe in the storm.
