Stolworthy Map and Property Summary

ABOUT THE PROPERTY:

This small in-town parcel was conveyed to the Town of Durham in 1986 by Edward Howard Stolworthy in memory of Marion J. Stolworthy. The conveyance included a set of covenants and restrictions, to ensure that that the property was:

"To remain in its natural and wooded and scenic state in perpetuity and to be designated with a sign as the "Marion J. Stolworthy Wildlife Sanctuary." The covenants state that "No other use of the land shall be permitted except as a wildlife sanctuary and those activities reasonably associated with the proper use and maintenance of a scenic wildlife sanctuary." The Conservation Commission was designated as the entity to determine compatibility of activities.

The property has one trail that extends from the back of the Middle School to Old Bagdad Road, which also connects to the High School via other trails.
