Absentee Ballot Application
How to Vote by Absentee Ballot
New Hampshire Absentee Voting is limited to qualified voters that cannot appear in person to vote at their polling location on election day. You must submit an application to obtain an absentee ballot. We do not have absentee ballot applications for 2025 available yet.
- Step 1 - APPLY: Application listed below under "Supporting Documents." Complete an absentee ballot application and email: rdeane@ci.durham.nh.us, mail or drop off your application to 8 Newmarket Road, Durham, NH 03824. For voters requesting an absentee ballot by email or mail, the deadline is 12pm the day before Election Day. You can also obtain an Absentee Ballot by submitting the request in person up until 5pm the day before Election Day. Ballots can only be issued to the voter. Unmarked ballots will not be given to family or friends, including spouses.
- Step 2 - MARK BALLOT: Carefully read and follow the instructions enclosed with your voting materials. Be sure to sign the affidavit envelope that is included with your ballot. Please seal all envelopes and put your full name and full voter address on all return envelopes.
- Step 3 - RETURN BALLOT: Mail your marked, sealed ballot to the Durham Town Clerk-Tax Collector at 8 Newmarket Road, Durham, NH 03824 to be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots may also be hand-delivered to the clerk’s office no later than 5:00 p.m. the day before Election Day by the voter or by an immediate family member (spouse, parent, sibling, or child). Family members dropping off a ballot will need to complete a State of NH Absentee Ballot Return Form.
