Downtown 24-hour Parking Permit

24-Hour Parking Downtown Permit Pilot Information

Permits are sold for 24-hour parking, 7 days a week, for two lots – 66 Main Street and Dennison Road.  Permit holders are not guaranteed any specific spot, but may park in either of those locations with their permit displayed.  Permits are $675.00 and are valid from January - June, and July - December. 

Permits for July - December will go on sale April 9, 2026 at 9am.

Can I park in the 24-Hour Downtown Parking Lot?

24-Hour parking lot is reserved for permit holders.  

What are the consequences if I park in 24-Hour Downtown Lot without a permit?

Your car may be subject to a $25 ticket or may be towed at the owners expense.

How do the Winter Parking Ban regulations apply to 24-Hour Downtown Lot?

* Permit holders may park in 24-Hour Lot 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the life of the permit.
* When snowfall requires the lot to be plowed, the Town of Durham Department of Public Works will perform routine maintenance plowing.  
* The Durham Police Department will send a notice by e-mail to all permit holders to move their vehicles when such action is necessary, with all necessary instructions.
* Any vehicle that has not been moved by the time snow removal operations begin will be subject to towing at the permit holders expense.
