How long have you lived in Durham?  11 years

Have you previously served on any government/community, civil boards, commissions or organizations?

Over the past decade, I have had the opportunity to serve on a range of boards and committees in Durham, including the Conservation Commission, Economic Development Committee, Planning Board, Housing Task Force, Town Council, Land Stewardship Subcommittee, and Historic District/Heritage Commission. These roles gave me valuable insight into the town's operations and an appreciation for our community's diverse perspectives.

I also participated in Celebrate Durham, a group focused on connecting residents, business owners, UNH and town officials with a goal to promote the town and its local businesses. I have also participated in the 4 River Project, which assists immigrants coming to the United States. Sponsors play a key role in helping legal newcomers adjust to life here and supporting them as they work toward becoming independent. I found it to be a truly rewarding experience

Please provide a brief paragraph explaining your interest in being elected to the position for which you are running.

It's clear that our downtown business district faces significant challenges, potentially threatening what makes it valuable. We need to ask: What should our future downtown look like? Which businesses and services will best serve our community? How can Durham become a welcoming hub for people to gather? Attracting new opportunities while supporting current businesses is crucial. Ideally, the heart of town would blend consumer-oriented enterprises with housing suited for all generations. These pieces combined could help create a dynamic commercial area and provide vital tax revenue for a fairer Durham. My aim is to unite local officials, community members, and business leaders to jointly build a thriving downtown Durham for 2030 and beyond. I am optimistic that Durham can maintain its small-town charm while encouraging economic development, and I am confident of Durham’s future.
