Education:  B.S. Psychology (Biology & Business minors), M.S. Industrial/Organizational Psychology

How long have you lived in Durham?  6 years

Have you previously served on any government/community, civil boards, commissions or organizations?

I am the government rookie candidate. My public service historically has been in the form of volunteering and fundraising for causes and organizations that touch my heart, whether it’s crowdsourcing donations, event logistics, or pro bono marketing projects. I believe in contributing to the things that I value:

  • Durham Swap shop volunteer
  • Lakes Region Disabled Sports
  • Alzheimer’s Association
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • The Salem Pantry
  • Rotary Club of Essex CT

Please provide a brief paragraph explaining your interest in being elected to the position for which you are running.

I am not here for a political career– this winter I felt called to assist in my community during a uniquely challenging time, because I believe my domain expertise is an asset to the diversity of backgrounds represented on the Town Council. My candidacy unofficially started in December when I sat in our Town Hall meeting listening to several families share what skyrocketing taxes will mean to their families– losing their homes. Families who have been in Durham for multiple generations; families whose tax dollars built this town now fear losing their homes.

This election will answer the question, “Does Durham want to be Inclusive, or Exclusive?”

My goal is sustaining everything we love about Durham by growing our tax base in a way that considers balancing long term resource needs, but that does not take away from the Tree City USA vibe we all love.
