Supervisor of the Checklist - Ann Shump
Address: 10 Fogg Drive
Occupation: Retired
Education: BS in Biology from Beloit College; MS in Zoology from Michigan State University; PhD in Zoology from Michigan State University
How long have you lived in Durham? 42 years
Have you previously served on any government/community, civil boards, commissions or organizations?
I have been Supervisor of the Checklist in Durham for more than 20 years. This job requires us to make sure the Voter Checklist is updated appropriately, and that new voters are properly registered and added to the Checklist.
Before this, I was president of the ORHS PTO for 7 years, and active in the PTOs of the middle school, Moharimet and Mast Way.
Please provide a brief paragraph explaining your interest in being elected to the position for which you are running.
The Supervisors are expected to do much more work than they were when I first started doing this job. We have worked very hard to keep the Voter Checklist updated and have managed to organize voter registration on election days in ways to get new voters through the very long lines expeditiously, while also being accurate. This has been a gradual process. Because of all of the new laws, I feel that I should be able to help keep things running reasonably smoothly for another few years since I already know the basics.
