In addition, I have served on the Strategic Plan Steering Committee and the Personnel and Policy sub-committee. Prior to retiring, I served as president of our library consortium in Southeastern MA. I also served on the Norfolk (MA) Friends of the Library Executive Committee and additionally served as both clerk and vice-chair of my Condo Association Board of Managers prior to moving to Durham.
Please provide a brief paragraph explaining your interest in being elected to the position for which you are running.
Libraries are my passion! I am a life-long library user and advocate and am proud to say that I have had a library card for 70 years! My career was spent working in school and public libraries. Public libraries are a vital part of every community and bring people together through books and reading, story times, book discussion groups, and a variety of educational programs and activities. Libraries are so much more than a repository of books and they remain relevant in today’s world of Google, AI, and other digital information. The Durham Public Library is a vibrant part of our community and serves all residents —- from our youngest to oldest citizens —- by providing an array of programs and services that enhance the fabric of our community life. I feel that I can contribute to the Town of Durham by continuing to serve on the Library Board of Trustees and by working to ensure that outstanding library services are available to all our residents.
