As a Durham resident and recent retiree, I was excited to learn about the plans for RiverWoods Durham. In the nine years since I moved here from Boston, I’ve fallen in love with Durham and look forward to spending my retirement here. Knowing that a RiverWoods community could be an option for me is incredibly reassuring. I know from personal experience how great the quality of life at RiverWoods is—I moved my father into The Ridge at RiverWoods Exeter when it opened in 2004 and watched him thrive in a way he had not since my mother’s death seven years earlier. The staff was exceptional—warm, caring, and highly professional all at once. Dad made friends immediately among the other residents and became his animated self once again. When he did pass away, the entire community was incredibly kind and helpful to my sister and me. Such a wonderful way of life is what I wish for myself as I age. I don’t need to remind other Durham residents of all the advantages we enjoy in our town—our well-managed government, open space, great new library, active local organizations, access to UNH, Amtrak service, proximity to all the Seacoast has to offer and to Boston. I fully support the development of RiverWoods Durham because I believe it would be a major asset to the town. RiverWoods has proved itself to be a good corporate citizen and has an enviable track record of creating attractive communities that are engaged with their towns. In Durham, the organization will provide the opportunity for our active citizens to maintain their civic and personal connections as they age in place. Respectfully, Susan Geib 92 Madbury Road
