Dear Michael and Members of the Durham Planning Board,

I watched the Riverwoods presentation with great interest. I know several people who live at the Exeter 
facility and are very pleased with it.


Other than things that are beyond their control (like there is no where to walk because of the location), I 
think there is a lot of enthusiasm in the community. 

Since I will be away for the month of June, I will miss the public hearing. I would like to voice my concern 
ahead of time about the gateway issue. (Thank you Bob Brown for becoming a convert!) It appears that 
there is good screening on one side of the front of the building (the righthand side) but not along the left 
as you face the complex. I am not pleased with the 4 story height. I see that the "by right" maximum 
height is 50 ft.  Whether or not we end up with 3 or 4 stories, I strongly urge the PB to ask for significant 
vegetative screening along the entire front of the complex so the view from Rt. 108 is greatly softened.  
This will also make it a more pleasant place for residents to live as more vegetation could help buffer 
some of the traffic noise—not to mention view of the road.. 

Michael, perhaps you could pass this along this suggestion to the RW team, including Robbi Woodburn 
ahead of time? I am sure I will not be the only member of the public concerned about the gateway.
