Subject: Redevelopment of Mill Plaza

Please advise the Planning Board members that I strongly support the 
redevelopment of the Plaza. I have had the opportunity to review the current plan 
before the Board and find it to have merit. The Plaza improvements are very 
dated and are in significate variance to Smart Growth planning and land 
utilization. The Plaza has the potential of being a major contributor to the ad 
valorem tax base of Durham as redeveloped. The Board can take credit for seeing 
the importance of the redevelopment of the "greens" parcel and the Orion parcel. 
I believe these examples and the Board's approach to these parcel should be 
applied in approving a redevelopment plan of the Plaza.
