PARKING
METERS
How much
do the meters cost?
Meters cost $.25 for every 15 minutes for a MAXIMUM of 2-hours
on Main Street and 12 hours in the Pettee Brook Parking Lot.
If your vehicle is parked in a metered spot for more than
the time limit, it will be subject to ticketing …even
if you’ve kept feeding the meter!
Can I put
in coins other than quarters?
Yes, the meters will take nickels, dimes, quarters, and the
“new” silver dollars. Do NOT put in pennies, half
dollar coins or coins that are not minted as US Currency;
they won’t fit and will damage the meter.
I only
see one meter for every two parking spots. How do I know which
one to use?
Please pay the meter that is IMMEDIATELY to the left or right
of your car. If there is a parking space between your car
and the meter you’ve fed, you’ve put coins in
the wrong meter.
I’ve
put in a coin and the meter reads “SEL SPC”. What’s
that mean?
Every meter is designed to time two parking spots; one to
the left and one to the right of the meter. “SEL SPC”
means, “select space”; push the button closest
to your car and your spot will be properly timed.
What time
do I have to keep feeding the meters until?
All Town of Durham parking meters are active until 9:00 PM
Monday through Saturday, holiday’s excepted.
